What is High Variety Manufacturing (HVM)?

The term High Variety Manufacturing is an umbrella concept that covers the following manufacturing models: Mass Customization, BTO – Build to order, CTO – Configure to order, ETO – Engineer to order, ATO – Assemble to order, HMLV – High Mix, Low Volume, and Job Shop

HVM is best defined as a set of characteristics of which a manufacturer may exhibit and one or all.

• The sales process is complex and includes customer driven design and configuration decisions.

• The products are highly configurable and the number of options and the configurations combinations are such that the demands for specific manufacturing routings, task, and materials can not always be forecasted. The specific product and its manufacturing demands are not usually known until the order is received.

• The production value chain includes non-manufacturing activities such as project engineering, unique manufacturing documentation such as drawings, unique bill of materials generation etc.

• The company’s product is competencies rather than specific products

• The company is a pure custom or project based manufacturer.

Can I come into your production facitily for a tour?

Unfortunately we cannot give tours.  It can be a dangerous environment, as well as many of our customers projects we work on are confidential and contain proprietary information.

Is it possible to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement with you?

Protection of the confidentiality of your project is very important to us, signing a non-disclosure agreement is not a problem. You also may choose to not disclose the function of your product that we are making for you.

I need a short run of a product. Can you help?

Absolutely.  We are well equipped for high-setup, low-volume products. 

What are your size restrictions?

We have made products from 20 feet, to 1 inch.
